Deaf Ministry
Like all ministry, ours started with a burden. One Deaf family in Astoria, Queens moved with and helped start the Morris Park Bible Baptist Church. Now God is beginning to bless our church with an expanded Deaf ministry that is built around Bible preaching and doctrine.
All services interpreted for the Deaf.
Deaf integrated
Being a newer church we have the opportunity to start off with a good foundation to foster a deaf integrated church. That means that our congregation is aware of deaf culture and sensitive to the needs of Deaf families. Most of our members who do not have a background in ASL are enjoying learning simple signs and many are moving on to more advanced conversation.
All services INTERPRETED for the deaf
Every service at Morris Park Bible Baptist Church is interpreted for the Deaf. Announcements, prayers, music, and preaching are interpreted in American Sign Language. Our current interpreters are a mix of CODA and ASL students.
Sunday Night ASL lead service
Twice a month we flip things around and have the service lead in ASL. Our pastor interprets the message for the hearing. This gives the people of the church a greater awareness of deaf culture and helps those that are learning ASL.
