In recent days, there have been false statements by politicians and news outlets that no major religions oppose vaccines. This is not true. Even though the word “vaccine” is not in any book of the Bible, it does not mean that there are not serious biblical principles for opposing them. The issue has been that many Christians have not been very articulate in explaining their opposition to vaccines or have been afraid to. As a result, they have been often dismissed as “science deniers” or excuse-makers.

The Bible, and our church, teaches freedom of choice when it comes to bodily autonomy. There is not one instance in the scriptures where God has forced medical treatment on any one, or anything else for that matter. Instead, He has always given mankind a choice to serve Him, a choice between right or wrong:

How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.—I Kings 18:21

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.—Joshua 24:15

The real issue is not about opposing a “vaccine”. The real issue for every Christian is that we must adamantly oppose the forcing of anything into our God-given body.

The Bible teaches that the body of a Christian belongs to God:

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s—1 Corinthians 6:20

It is immoral to force, coerce, threaten, or guilt-trip another human being into taking any medical treatment. Our church strongly supports its parishioners’ right to decide what is best for them when it comes to health.

So here is where we stand, based on clearly taught principles from the Bible.

We DO oppose all vaccines that include dangerous or immoral ingredients. And we oppose any kind of forced medical treatment for the reasons explained below:

1. Any vaccines—like the Covid-19 vaccines—that use or have used the cells of aborted fetal tissue in any part of the process is absolutely reprehensible. Christians cannot be complicit in the murder of innocent babies by putting aborted cells into their bodies. Our bodies are the “temple of the Holy Ghost” and we must not violate our sacred body with something that is evil at its core (1 Cor 6:19).

We do not take any orders from the Pope or any other established religion. We are an Independent Baptist Church and only answer to Jesus. Our authority is the Bible…period. People are free to believe as they choose. This is our position and we stand by it.

2. Forced medical treatment is a sin against God and violates our right to bodily autonomy. The recent push to force Covid-19 vaccines is inherently evil for the following reasons:

a. Those pushing the vaccines against our wills are presenting them as the ONLY solution to Covid-19 and as some sort of “savior”. The Bible tells us “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” and “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

Threatening Christians with their livelihood if they don’t put their faith in a “god” is a sin against God’s word. Christians are commanded to seek God in prayer and to seek biblical counsel for healing (James 5:14). There are other safe alternatives to treat this virus that do not include a vaccine. The government has no right to tell Christians how to treat their bodies. This is a personal decision between a Christian and God Almighty. And if a Christian chooses a specific medical treatment after prayerful consideration…fine. But God comes first in all matters of faith and practice. Shall they tell us what to eat and when to eat if it is for the “benefit of society”?

 b. The Covid-19 vaccines have been presented as “safe and effective”.

We oppose this vaccine because it forces us to accept a lie. “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord”—Prov. 12:22. Exodus 20:16 tells us that we shall not bear false witness.

The Covid-19 vaccines have been adequately reported to have very dangerous side effects, including death. Safe and effective? Try telling that to the families of the injured or lost loved ones from this vaccine. The CDC Director admitted on live television that the vaccine cannot prevent transmission:

 https://newsrescue.com/cdc-director-inadvertently-destroys-argument-for-vaccine-passports-by-surprisingly-saying-vaccines-do-not-prevent-transmission-video/

Dishonesty is a sin. And Christians should not partake in a “treatment” that is founded on dishonesty; this is a violation of our conscience before God. “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin (James 4:17)

Myocarditis, pericarditis, blood clotting, miscarriages, anaphylaxis, are just a few of the reported side effects of this vaccine. We understand that this is not the case for every person. But we are never supposed to play Russian roulette with our lives.

3. We oppose mandatory vaccines because it perverts justice. The Bible is clear that justice and judgment must be exercised for any society to survive (read Deuteronomy). When someone harms another person, God gives clear instructions for how the offense must be handled. Vaccine companies are immune to any lawsuits in the event of vaccine-related harm or death. There is virtually nothing that person can do to seek justice against these companies. This is extremely evil and against our sincerely held religious beliefs.

Our church believes in respecting and praying for our authorities in government. But when this fundamental God-given right is threatened, we also encourage our people to stand up against abuses. The Bible teaches freedom of choice and we defend it. Many of our members have willfully chosen to get the Covid-19 vaccine and we respect their choice. So when politicians or other critics mock at religious exemptions for vaccines, we encourage them to learn about our biblical positions before wrongfully judging Christians.

In Christ,
